How’s your Bible-reading going? Are you feeling like you’re slogging through Numbers? Maybe it’s time for an inspiring example.
The photo in this post shows just two pages of the Bible of Grant Horner. This man has inspired my Bible-reading more than any other person. Check out his story at: About Grant Horner’s Bible-Reading Habits
At the time Grant started reading through his Bible, he had no Seminary degrees, no Bible-college or Christian school education. He had never even been to Sunday school. He was a new convert, a college dropout and an “ex-heavy-druggie” (his words, not mine) when he started it. “All I did have was a chair, a lamp … and my Bible,” Grant writes. He came up with a system for daily reading the Bible that worked for him. The result? Grant says that, “within 3 years I knew the text of my Bible very well. Twenty-five years later it is essentially imprinted on my mind and heart.”
I used Grant’s system last year (2012) for the first time. It was a stretch at first, but it didn’t take long for it to become an essential part of my daily life. Here is a description of the reading plan: Grant Horner’s Bible-Reading Plan. Check it out and get inspired!
